Kevin Aillaud - coach@crossfithel.com -or- 503-522-0233

Kevin Aillaud has spent a long time in the athletic and fitness communities.  As a teenager, Kevin was a member of the National Youth Water Polo Team and the Junior National Water Polo Team.  During his time with the national teams he received athletic training at both the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO and the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, NY in addition to gaining the experience of elite international competition while representing the United States.
After high school, Kevin enlisted in the United States Navy where he continued his fitness training and conditioning before being transfered to the United States Naval Academy to play water polo for the Navy.  During his enlisted military career and later as a midshipman,  Kevin was given the responsibility  of organizing, implementing, and leading group workouts for his fellow shipmates who were having problems with passing the Navy Physical Readiness Test.  His program began with a range of 3 to 25 sailors or midshipman and had a 100% success rate.
After the military Kevin spent time in the private security industry as an executive protection specialist.  It was through executive protection that Kevin became interested in the martial arts community, specifically mixed martial arts and the strength and conditioning that the sport requires.
In 2004 Kevin decided to make a career of teaching people how to be and stay fit.  He came back to Portland, enrolled at PSU and began free, private instruction for students.  Before long Kevin was hired at a large big-box gym (24-Hour Fitness, Gold's, Bailey's, you know the type. . .) and began taking on regular clients.  It was at this time that Kevin found CrossFit.  After only a short time with 24-Hour Fitness, Kevin affiliated with CrossFit and opened his elite athletic training facility in NE Portland - CrossFit Human Evolution Labs.
Kevin currently holds certifications in personal training from the International Sports Sciences Association and the National Academy of Sports Medicine, a certification as a performance enhancement specialist from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, American Red Cross CPR and First Aid, and is a Level II CrossFit Coach.

Nick Temple - templepnick@yahoo.com -or - 503-475-1949

Nick Temple has been physically active since the day he could walk, being brought along on hikes with his parents whether he wanted to go or not.  Outdoor sports made up the majority of his involvement in any kind of exercise program, until after high school when he joined a gym and got into the world of chest, back, and arms on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, then legs, ab's and cardio on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  After about two years into this and getting really burnt out on how much time he was spending in the gym each day to try and see results, he started doing random sets of exercises just to stay entertained enough to keep coming back.
In 2005 thinking about joining the Navy, Nick was talking to a personal trainer at a local globo-gym asking him to help get him in shape.  The trainer said to check out this site called crossfit.com and that he should just do the workouts on the main site.  Being surprised the trainer declined work and sent him to a free website, Nick went home and checked it out.  Once finding CrossFit he has never done anything else to increase his physical abilities.  Nick has been with Human Evolution Labs since March 2007 and since then has gotten his CrossFit Olympic Weightlifting certification, American Council on Exercise Personal Trainer certification, and is going to school for his Emergency Medical Technician Basic and will be testing with the Portland Fire Department this fall.
