I just got in a shipment of protein that has no sugar in it! It is pure whey isolate and some amino acids. It has 24 servings and I’m selling it for $40 a tub. Since there isn’t any sugar there isn’t any flavor either so this one is going to require a mixer – remember the rules on drinks!

I am having a bad cravings day. I just want a delicious chocolate chip cookie my girl got from pizzacato. Ugh. This is what I get for boasting about how easy this challenge was going. I am gonna go to bed early to get my mind off cookies.

You know what Kev - its probably cause of the Basic test. You drained all your glycogen on Christine and now your body craves the sugar to replace it. Its not uncommon. After high intensity work its normal to crave sugar or starch - remember the last time yo did Fran? ;-)

Kevin KB... That is awesome that you didn't give in to your craving. I gave in to one on Friday, maybe a little too zealously....Not only did I lose my point but I broke out in hives. Woops!

Those cravings and availability of cheats in the office and with friends are what kill me. I have no problem when it's just me going about my business and pulling together my own meals. It's the discipline to turn down the sin when offered by another than gives me trouble!

That puts my cravings in a new light. I was getting pissed at myself for wanting to eat a cookie and it put me in a bad mood. I'm trying to change how I think of food and I need to not be so critical I guess.

I make tons of snackie things to have around in case I need it. The candied pecans are great because they have very very little honey. The nut butter cups are a great option as well because of low honey amounts. I also made a YUMMY lemon bar over the weekend. I wasn't thrilled with the crust portion, but the lemon curd was off the charts - I keep it very tart and low honey. Another suggestion is to take a spoonful of unsweetened applesauce. I'm just looking for a good substitute for my salt & vinegar chips! Grrrrr....

Kevin KB, Noel gave me this receipe that helps me through some of the cookie cravings... http://civilizedcavemancooking.com/grain-free-goodies/caveman-crunch/
It isn't a cookie but it is easy to make and very easy to eat.
Noel... that receipe is way better the second time around. Also, if you find something that is salt vinegar chip like...let me know. Salt and vinegar is my downfall :)

Noel . . . I would pay you to make some me some sweet snacky items! Seriously could you send me a price sheet? You could run your own paleo kit business :)

Awwww....Mandy you're so sweet! Let me figure some things out and let you know :-) I've often thought that the Universe is suggesting that I be a baker...my insomnia certainly lends to crazy baker's hours!

I am absolutely serious Noel . . . so let me know what you come up with. I'm sure my son Braedyn will really appreciate it too :)

Noel... I will be more than happy to be the taste tester.

I'm telling you all. Dates are a great cravings killer.
Posted by: Kevin KB | January 31, 2012 at 07:28 PM
KB-I believe you on the dates. If you want to mix it up - look for those fig & walnut "cakes" in the wine sections of New Seasons or Whole Foods. They're just compressed figs and nuts.
And Noel - nothing can replace salt & vinegar chips. BUT - kale chips! Awesome! All kinds of recipes on line - but just de-stem and tear into bit sizes, toss with olive oil, season, and bake in single layer until crispy. Flip once.
And Noel - I would happily buy baked paleo treats from you.

Sherri, do you think soaking the kale in a vinegar (e.g. balsamic) and then baking them would give the kale chips the sea salt and vinegar flare?
Posted by: eileen | February 01, 2012 at 03:01 PM
Heating up/frothing almond milk and adding to a few shots of espresso with some raw milk is pretty dang good. Maybe a bit sissy, but good nonetheless.
Posted by: Ted | February 01, 2012 at 11:09 PM
Wow Eileen - think outside that box!! I have no idea how that would turn out. I would worry that too much vinegar would prevent the oil from crisping up the greens? Maybe if you had just a little spritz of vinegar AFTER baking?

Ted! Where did you find raw milk? I've been searching!

I meant raw honey. Sorry for the confusion.
